THE NIAGARA FALLS WINTER FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS INVITES COMMUNITY MEMBERS TO GET INVOLVED WITH FESTIVAL EVENTS

Canada’s largest free outdoor light festival is looking for enthusiastic volunteers of all ages to bring joy and keep spirits bright.

The tradition continues with the 43rd annual Winter Festival of Lights from November 15, 2025 to January 4, 2026.

High school students and adults in the community are invited to volunteer to support the free Festival, which features more than 3 million lights and 75 displays across the city. Volunteer opportunities are a great way for friends, family and co-workers to give back to the community and get into the holiday spirit.

Volunteer Opportunity Overview

Volunteer assignments are ideal for high school students (qualify for volunteer hours) and adults who want to get involved in this community event. Flexible levels of commitment available throughout the Festival season.

Volunteer Schedules:

Misty Lodge in Queen Victoria Park
Volunteer roles include: Misty Kids Mascots, Misty Kid Helpers & Misty Lodge Support
Dates: Friday & Saturday nights from November 15 – January 4
Times: 5:00-9:00pm

Santa Photos at Skylon Tower
Volunteer roles include: Santa’s Helpers
Dates: December 5, 6, 11, 12, 19, 20
Times: 5:00-9:00pm

Additional details on volunteer opportunities:

  • Misty Kids Mascots – the Winter Festival of Lights goodwill ambassadors and furry friends, the Misty Kids are five mascots who love to be silly and take photos with families and friends.
  • Misty Kids Helpers – assist with making sure the mascots are safe, prepared and ready for anything that comes their way! Depending on the mascot, this may also include being their eyes and ears.
  • Misty Lodge Support – facilitating Misty Kids appearances, handing out treats, helping visitors take photos.
  • Santa’s Helpers at Santa Meet & Greet Events – Managing the line-up of visitors, assisting with set up and removal photo area and photography equipment.
