A ROW OF CHANDELIERS TO LIGHT YOUR WAY …
The Canadian Power Plant sparkles more than before during this season of the OPG Winter Festival of Lights. Our ‘Open Lounge’ display is pure magic. Artist, Geraud Periole, combines technical innovation with artistic and poetic expression. 18 glowing chandeliers adorning the front of the Beaux-Arts style Rankine Generating Station, just south of the Horseshoe Falls. Come see for yourself.
Open Lounge is like magic, we imagine ourselves in a ballroom of a palace with the starry sky as ceiling and everybody is invited, and that’s exactly the idea behind this project. Each chandelier is handcrafted by the artist and can be hung in different setups.
About Geraud Periole
For more than 20 years, Géraud Périole has been working as a light designer. With these many years of experience, Périole understands how best to illuminate historical buildings, monuments and public spaces. He gained his technological knowledge by studying engineering. Ten years ago he started arranging the lighting for events; this is something he still does today. He challenges himself by combining technical innovation with artistic and poetic expression. He attempts to surprise the viewer by creating luminous and fleeting moments.
The Light Art Collection installations will be hosted during the Winter Festival of LIghts until January 6, 2019. Hosting these displays during the WFOL was made possible through the financial assistance of the Ontario Cultural Attractions Fund a program of the Government of Ontario through the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport, administered by the Ontario Cultural Attractions Fund Corporation.
